The Israel 'bucket list' of cycling Challenges

 From the Lowest Place on Earth to the Holiest Place on Earth: Cycle from the Dead Sea up to Jerusalem (the eastern climb to Jerusalem)

 

Climbing from the lowest place on earth up to the holiest city in the world.

Begin the ride with the descend to the Dead Sea and enjoy the view of spectacular Judean Desert hills and the Dead Sea below. Once you reach the Lowest Place on Earth, you will begin your ascent to the Holiest Place on Earth, ending the tour at a special lookout over the entire city of Jerusalem

 

Tour overview

1. Length - 34 km (just the climb)

2. Total ascent - 1200 m (just the climb)

3. Average slop - 3%

4. Time frame:

  • Descent to the Dead Sea - minimum 45 min (or you can skip this and get a ride with the car to the bottom)

  • Ascent:

    • Pro level: 2 hr - at 3 watts per kg

    • Weekend Warrior - 3-3.5 hr

5. Weather - in the summer it can reach 42 degrees Celsius, in winter can reach 18 degrees Celsius (recommended season for the challenge - October-May)

Pricing

  • Up to 4 rental bikes or car passengers - 2100 ILS (same price if also you bring your own bike and/or arrive at the starting point on your own)

  • 5-8 rental bikes or car passengers - 3100 ILS (same price if also you bring your own bike)

  • A group up to 13 people who arrive on their own to the starting point - 1800 ILS (over 13 requires police confirmation)

 

Notes

1. A professional cycling guide will pick you up and take you with a car to the starting point you choose (either in Jerusalem or the Dead Sea).

2. An escort car (with extra wheels, inner-tubes, tires, tools, first aid kit) + driver + refreshments (water, fruit) throughout the cycling

3. Departure is from Tel Aviv or Jerusalem

 

Sea to Sea: Med to Dead Challenge

 

Start cycling from the Mediterranean shore and cycle east towards Jerusalem and to the Judean desert and end the cycling at the shore of the Dead Sea - the lowest place on earth!

1. Length - 103 km

2. Total ascent - 1100 m

3. Average slop - 3%

4. Time frame: 5 hours​

5. Weather - in the summer it can reach 42 degrees Celsius, in winter can reach 18 degrees Celsius (recommended season for challenge - October-May)

HC Category Climb - Mt. Hermon

 

Start the morning with coffee at Aroma coffee shop at Gan Hazafon, and begin a 15 minute cycling warm-up to Horshat Tal.

Once after passing Horshat Tal you will begin the climb up Israel's tallest mountain.

 

Tour overview

1. Length - 30 km

2. Total ascent - 1520 m

3. Average slop - 5%

4. Time frame:

  • Ascent:

    • Pro level: 2 hr - at 3 watts per kg

    • Weekend Warrior - 3-3.5 hr

  • Decent - 30-45 min, with very dangerous curves

5. Weather - in the summer it can reach 20 degrees Celsius, in winter can reach -7 degrees Celsius (from Dec. it is not possible to climb due to  snow)

West to East Along the Northern Border of Israel and Lebanon

 

Join us on an exciting cycling challenge along the most northern road in Israel (runs along the border with Lebanon). Cycle east from the shore of the Med Sea and end the tour with a climb up Mount Hermon (Israel's tallest mountain).

This is a super hard level tour that can take up to 8 hours of cycling!

2. Total ascent - 3,865 m

3. Average slop - 5%

4. Time frame: 8 hours cycling

5. Weather - in the summer it can reach 30 degrees Celsius, in winter can reach -7 degrees Celsius (from Dec. it is not possible to climb due to  snow)
